2024.09.12 Nikkei journalist Ryo Namiki receives INMA "30 Under 30" Editorial Award

On September 5, Ryo Namiki (28), a journalist at Nikkei Inc., was selected for the "30 Under 30 Awards" by the International News Media Association (INMA). This award recognizes outstanding young professionals in the media industry. It is the fifth consecutive year that a Nikkei employee has received this honor.

INMA received 140 applications and selected 30 individuals from 17 countries for this year's awards. The awardees are divided into six categories: Advertising, Data, Editorial, Reader Revenue, Leadership, and Product. Namiki was selected in the Editorial category.

Ryo Namiki joined Nikkei Inc. in 2021 and is a member of the Visual Storytelling Group at the Visual Journalism Center. He is leveraging his strength in data analysis for investigative reporting and collaborating with designers and engineers to create visual content to make news easy to understand.

Namiki said, "In the future, I would like to focus on enhancing my skills in OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), a method of uncovering buried news by collecting and analyzing publicly available data on the internet, as well as exploring the use of AI in investigative reporting."
