Nikkei publishes five newspapers. In addition to our flagship publication, The Nikkei, four specialized papers cover specific areas of the economy in depth. A loyal readership and a valued reputation for reliability characterize all five, which together constitute the foundation of the Nikkei group. Now printed at 34 locations in Japan and overseas, Nikkei newspapers bring the latest business and economic news to readers all over the world.
The Nikkei has earned high marks from readers for its timely and objective coverage of economic and business information - including corporate news, domestic and global macroeconomic trends, and investment and management strategies. A whole new news website was launched in March 2010, with the combination of our trusted information and the latest information technologies. The Nikkei Online Edition (www.nikkei.com) provides users with information faster, deeper, and with more convenience. It's the first hybrid - free and subscription - news site by a Japanese national newspaper, replacing The Nikkei Net that started in 1996, also one of the first internet news sites in Japan. A content and layout makeover at The Nikkei print edition in April 2010 brought with it more analysis and commentaries on economic trends, government policies and corporate news. The Saturday supplement Nikkei Plus1 now offers rich content on lifestyle, culture and, as our newest section, “Nikkei's news for kids.”
Packed with 400 business articles every day, The Nikkei Business Daily is an established source of microeconomic information, such as developments in cuttingedge technologies and innovative products and services to analysis of personnel strategies, that empowers front-line business people to new levels of quality and efficiency. Focusing on three core themes-manufacturing (monozukuri), new products and digital technology-the daily has earned the trust of professionals in corporate analysis and investment, including securities analysts and fund managers. Other features include "must read" series that break stories in advance of major emerging changes. The paper, which is also highly regarded for its page design and editing, provides a wealth of information for those with limited time.
The Nikkei MJ (marketing journal) casts a spotlight on the consumer economy, which generates 60 percent of Japan's GDP, and covers lifestyles, consumption patterns and service industries. The newspaper captures and analyzes business and consumer trends from the perspective of marketing as an activity that connects materials with technologies, technologies with products and products with consumers. The paper's approach is to present pages that are easy to read, fashionable and informative, with ample use of color.
A new weekly finance and investment newspaper, THE NIKKEI VERITAS, will debut in March 2008.
The tabloid paper, to be published every Sunday by Nikkei Inc., will be packed with information about ever-changing market trends, corporate value analysis and financial products. It will also carry longer stories pointedly focused on the flow of money around the globe and the latest investment issues.
Typeset horizontally, the paper will feature many color pages and layouts arranged to make it easy for our readers to quickly absorb the information. For instance, several pages will be devoted to listing stock names in the order of the 50-character Japanese kana syllabary.
THE NIKKEI VERITAS will take an online approach in which its subscribers will be given access to the Web site to get the most up-to-date information available every day.
Under the banner, "Business News from Japan to the World," THE NIKKEI WEEKLY is Japan's only English-language business newspaper for disseminating Nikkei's economic reporting to a worldwide readership. THE NIKKEI WEEKLY incorporates a selection of major articles published in Nikkei's four Japanese newspapers to provide professional yet easy-to-read articles on the economy, industry and finance in Japan and Asia, in precise, polished English.
