Nikkei's Mission Providing fair and impartial reporting of quality information

In the face of today's information glut, where sheer quantity makes it difficult to assess quality, news organizations are expected, more than ever before, to be fair and objective in their coverage. Nikkei avoids sensationalism and provides consistently high-quality information on business and the economy, presented clearly and simply, reflecting keen insight and forthright analysis. Through fair, in-depth coverage, Nikkei sheds light on what is happening now and what lies ahead.

Nikkei's Challenge Deploying advanced technologies to support comprehensive news coverage

As information needs become increasingly diversified and specialized, Nikkei is responding by delivering information through a variety of media in addition to the printed page. The Nikkei Online Edition, lauched march 23,2010, is a new media outlet (in Japanese) combining the information quality of a newspaper and the convenience of the Internet. Nikkei Telecom 21, a news and database-driven business information service, is also available over the Internet. Nikkei will continue to forge ahead boldly and expand its powerful information-gathering capability, a legacy of its newspaper heritage, to serve as a compass in an age of ubiquitous telecommunications, in which virtually anyone can disseminate and receive information anytime, anywhere.

Nikkei's Trust Disseminating accurate, valuable information as one of Asia's leading media companies

The Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association Awards (Editorial Section) are presented to journalists who break the most important news stories of the year. Nikkei reporters received the award in 2003 for a series of reports on issues relating to the cutting of guaranteed yields by life insurance companies and again in 2004 for a special report on the merger of UFJ Bank and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. In 2006, Nikkei reporters won the award for a scoop about a memo written by former Imperial Household Agency Grand Steward Tomohiko Tomita. More Nikkei journalists took home the honor in 2007 for another scoop detailing how sloppy government administration had left 50 million pension records without pension identification numbers, which could leave retirees with fewer benefits than they are due. The Nikkei is committed to solidifying its position as the leading and most reliable media company in Asia by disseminating valuable information not only to Japan but to the world.
