Global EV Overview & Technology Strategy Report 2025

New report from Nikkei BP analyzes 34 EV automakers in Japan, the US, Europe, China, South Korea, India and Vietnam

Global EV Overview & Technology Strategy Report 2025 New report from Nikkei BP analyzes 34 EV automakers in Japan, the US, Europe, China, South Korea, India and Vietnam

In this new comprehensive report, Nikkei BP examines the technological and business strategies of electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers around the world, as well as providing a review of their current EV models.

The report is based on extensive research of 34 leading automakers in Japan, the United States, Europe, China, South Korea, India, and Vietnam, and covers their business strategies, product launches, and brand development plans. Seven reporters from Nikkei xTech worked together to produce this highly readable report, which includes a detailed analysis of the features of over 280 models which are currently available from the automakers covered, as well as more than 700 charts and visuals.

A comparison table allows readers to readily compare the specifications of existing EV models and deployment grades are also provided. More than 40 criteria are included, organized into categories such as release date; seat capacity; vehicle platform; dimensions and weight; performance; drive battery; motor; running gear; autonomous driving system; and price.

In Japan, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) still dominate the market. The shift toward electric vehicles (EVs) has led to a sluggish performance for some automakers, and a certain amount of pessimism about the future of EVs. However, data shows that among new car sales, the ratio of EVs is steadily increasing and this trend is expected to continue. There are variations between countries and regions, but research firms and auto parts manufacturers predict that the market share of EVs will surpass 50% globally by 2035.

Features:

- Analysis of the technological strategies of 34 leading automakers around the world, including target markets and platform development trends
- List of 280 EV models, explaining the features of each model, and giving specifications based on 40 criteria

Contains 280 car models from major manufacturers in Japan, the United States, Europe, China, South Korea, India, and Vietnam. We will provide a detailed analysis and explanation of the performance and features of each model and grade.
