Nikkei Global Environmental Technology Awards
Established in 1991, this award is given to individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to environmental preservation through researching actual environmental conditions, conducting environmental assessments, and developing technology to balance the environment and the economy. Work conducted includes observations on the ozone layer, restoration of ecosystems in forests, and recycling technology.
We actively promote environmentally responsible newspaper production. Our efforts include adopting the world's lightestweight newsprint, using an exceptionally high ratio of recycled materials, switching to ecologically sound printing inks and introducing computer-toplate (CTP) machines that directly print page layouts to printing plates as an effective means for conserving resources. In addition, we are acquiring ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management, at our printing plants.
