Thomas E. McCarty, Area Managing Director-Asia
Pacific, Andersen Consulting, oversees more than 5,000 professionals-Asia
Pacific working with leading multinationals and government organizations
to achieve their goals.
He has worked extensively across the Asia/Pacific, since arriving
in Tokyo in 1986 as Managing partner of the Japanese practice.
He directs operations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia,
Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan
and Thailand.
Mr. McCarty began his career as a consultant in the Chicago office
in 1968 and became a partner in 1978. He has extensive experience
in practice management, project management, systems planning,
design and implementation and strategic consulting in a variety
of industries. He holds an MBA from the University of Iowa.
Mr. McCarty, 58, serves on various management committees including
the Andersen Consulting Executive Committee, Global Management
Council and Partner Compensation Committee. He is also a member
of the board of the business school at the University of Iowa.
Andersen Consulting is focused on helping clients to create their
future.
Mr. McCarty's extensive experience throughout the Asia Pacific
region has shaped his views that the major challenges facing Asian
business are globalization and electronic commerce.
